The product selected depends primarily on the metal type and oil type.
The right product is selected in a feasibility study at DST-KEMI A/S'
in-house lab.
The feasibility study partly consists of a test of the customer's oil/emulsion and partly of a test of the purity of the customer's metal items in our pilot washing plant.
The oil/emulsion test is carried out in a heated washing solution to which oil/emulsion is added while the pH is continuously monitored. The bath's ability to separate the oil/emulsion and the bath's pH stability will be decisive as to which product is selected.
The customer's items will then be washed in a product selected in the oil test at DST-KEMI's pilot plant.
The washing test is always adapted to the customer's needs and existing facilities. Please note that mechanical cleaning of the items, such as spray, ultrasound, brush, is required just as an oil skimmer (steel mill, belt or floating drum skimmers) to remove the separated oil on the surface is required.
After the washing process, the items' purity is checked, for example by measuring the surface tension.
The right product for the customer is selected based on these checks, and the conversion may commence.
During the initial period with DST-DEGREEZ®, the baths will be optimised in order to achieve the correct dosage, skimming time and water consumption.
